The graduate students at FSU’s Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship had the opportunity to attend an up close and personal lecture from Chain of Parks presenting artist John Ensor Parker. In addition to creating artworks, Parker is a mechanical engineer, architect and curator.
He began the lecture by showing the students some of his previous installations, including Point Cloud, a public art light sculpture installation, and You, Me – And Everything Between, a video projection installation on the Wyly Theatre. Parker then discussed what art means to him. “Art is a documentation of experience. Art allows this experience to be transferred from the artist to the viewer,” said Parker.
Parker provided an interactive activity for the group as well. He had each student write down each of the 5 core emotions (fear, anger, disgust, and sadness) on separate pieces of paper and draw whatever they associated with those words. “This was a great exercise for acknowledging our emotions. I really appreciated how Parker can turn his feelings into something beautiful for all to enjoy,” said one of the Jim Moran students.
