Imani Winds and Boston Brass
In Collaboration with the College of Music
Boston Brass and the 2024 Grammy-winning Imani Winds are excited to announce the creation of a new consortium! Their Florida State debut will feature the world premiere of a new work for the ensembles by the iconic, multi-Grammy Award-winning musician and composer Arturo Sandoval along with Aram Khachaturian’s well-known favorite, Sabre Dance (from his ballet Gayane), music of Paquito D’Rivera and Manuel De Falla, Billy May’s “Flight of the Green Hornet,” and more! Since 1986, Boston Brass has set out to establish a one-of-a-kind musical experience featuring colorful classical arrangements, burning jazz standards, and the best of original brass repertoire. Imani Winds celebrates over a quarter century of music making during which the group has led both a revolution and evolution of the wind quintet through their dynamic playing, adventurous programming, imaginative collaborations, and outreach endeavors that have inspired audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
