100 members of the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Bend were able to attend the Florida State University PRISM concert for free due to a grant from the Walmart Foundation.
PRISM is part of FSU’s Opening Nights series and features students from FSU’s College of Music and their Chamber Winds, Symphonic Band, jazz ensembles, the Marching Chiefs and many other groups.
Before the concert, members of the Boys & Girls Club were treated to an educational program about the different instrument families in the band led by Thomas Willmann, a graduate assistant at the College of Music. FSU Marching Chiefs and music student leaders demonstrated the variety of instruments, played some recognizable FSU music and shared the unique experiences that led to their music careers.
